BP is one of the largest traders of oil and gas in the world. Integrated Supply and Trading (IST) is the market-facing component of all our trading activities. It combines all our oil, gas, power and chemical trading activities and has a dedicated financial markets trading team that manages our daily exposure to global currency and interest rate fluctuations. We work with other energy companies, financial institutions such as investment banks and hedge funds, as well as companies looking to reduce their exposure to the risks of changing oil prices. Trading Development Programme
This is a two-to-three year programme that will develop you into a trading professional. Through a combination of training and job rotations, you’ll gain valuable experience in one of our most dynamic sectors, and with some of the best traders in the energy industry.
It’s a competitive programme and expectations are high, but the TDP is an ideal platform for top performers — helping you to develop skills and knowledge in areas such as trade control, market analytics and operations. The programme culminates in our Assessed Trader Course (ATC), which will determine your next career step.
Complete support
Throughout the programme, your learning and development will be our primary focus. You’ll gain on-the-job experience, receive personal mentoring, expert advice, regular appraisals and feedback.
The training we offer is extensive; helping you understand the industry, how IST fits into BP, what we trade and the instruments we use. With formal in-house and external training courses, you’ll deepen your technical knowledge and personal capability.
Through job rotations, you’ll not only gain skills, you’ll also make a tangible contribution to BP’s performance. In fact, many front office roles are reserved specifically for participants within the programme, giving you immediate access to the traders and trading teams. The TDP provides you with extensive individual opportunities to get to grips with our business and build your career as a respected trader.

Working in IST demands innovative thinking, strong drive, an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to relate well with colleagues. We are looking for people with a strong academic record in any discipline.
