Clifford Chance and Singapore law firm, Cavenagh Law LLP have established a Formal Law Alliance (FLA). The FLA allows the two firms to provide the broadest range of Singapore and international law service available in the market from one platform – 'Clifford Chance Asia'.
Together, the Clifford Chance Asia team in Singapore is able to offer a world-class training programme which gives our trainees access to Clifford Chance's global career development and worldwide resources. The team is also able to provide clients with seamless advice and assistance on international law as well as all aspects of Singapore law including, through Cavenagh Law LLP, Singapore litigation work.
Responsibilities
The training programme is two years in duration, and will be comprised of 4 seat placements. It is intended that one of these seats will be completed in one of Clifford Chance's overseas offices such as London, Hong Kong, Sydney or Perth. This will give you the opportunity to work with different teams and clients, and potentially in different jurisdictions.
During your seats, your time and energy will be focused on activities that will best develop your legal and business skills. You could be drafting and proofing documents, conducting due diligence on a client's acquisition target, attending client meetings or preparing documents for a court hearing. You may run, under supervision, some smaller transactions and disputes for clients.
In addition to gaining exposure to international work, you will also receive access to the world class training that is offered to Clifford Chance trainees. Our training programme is designed to help you build a portfolio of technical, business and commercial skills to support and sustain growth in your practical experience. Throughout each seat, you will continue to receive training in the form of lectures, seminars and updates, and have access to our global training resources through the Clifford Chance Academy.
It is intended that you will be Singapore-qualified after completing the Singapore "Practice Training Period", and will have the potential to be qualified in another leading jurisdiction at the end of the two-year programme.
Upon completion of the two year programme, you will have the opportunity to be considered for newly-qualified associate positions with Clifford Chance Asia or with one of Clifford Chance's global network of offices, including Singapore.
Qualifications
Students studying law overseas who are due to graduate in mid 2014; or
Students studying law in Singapore who due to graduate in mid 2015.
