Employer Description
Abbott is a global healthcare company, since 1888, the company has been devoted to improving life through the development of products and technologies that span the breadth of healthcare. With a portfolio of leading, science-based offerings in diagnostics, medical devices, nutritionals and branded generic pharmaceuticals, Abbott serves people in more than 150 countries and employs approximately 70,000 people.
For 125 years, Abbott has continually evolved to advance practices in medicine, science and technology—shaping new ways to help people lead healthier lives. Whether it’s next-generation diagnostics, life-changing devices, science-based nutrition, or novel reformulations, we are advancing some of the most innovative and revolutionary technologies in healthcare.
Responsibilities
There is a critical lack of information as to the diet and nutrition of children in Singapore. While there are substantial changes in the food supply and eating habits, an increase in technologies that facilitate sedentary behaviour (e.g. video games and mobile phones) and changing family life and structure (e.g. increased participation of both primary and secondary care-givers in the workforce), there has been, to date, no concerted national effort to understand the situation or trends.
As the leader in pediatric nutrition in Singapore, Abbott would like to understand the current food and nutrient intake of children between the ages of 3 – 6 years. The data will inform product formulation as well as education of parents with regard to child nutrition.
The interested intern will work with the Medical Affairs team to design and implement the study, analyze the data and provide a report of the findings. The project will require the candidate to plan and manage the project to completion.
- Review papers / technical documents related to the topic.
- Plan and design the study with the guidance of the Medical Affairs Team.
- Prepare the study tools and implement the study in the finalized sample.
- Collate the data and prepare the final report
