Responsibilities
- Understand how to assess and evaluate risks presented by brokers, asking more detailed questions where necessary and making use of information available to decide whether, and on what terms, to accept the risks
- Gain experience of the different underwriting business groups and work alongside experienced underwriters
- Work alongside our actuaries and catastrophe aggregate managers taking expert advice in certain cases
- Develop an understanding of the business by spending time in key departments including claims, actuarial and where possible a secondment to other Catlin offices
Qualifications
Creative problem-solvers and analytical thinkers who can work under pressure and to tight deadlines, whilst remaining calm and adjusting comfortably to changing conditions and priorities. Absolute accuracy, attention to detail, numeracy, logic and common-sense are required.
To be a Catlin underwriter, you need to be highly-driven, delivery focussed and a self-starter. With full support from your team, you will take ownership for your work from an early stage, using your judgement to evaluate risk and commercial acumen to develop our business.
As a confident communicator and an articulate presenter you will also have first-class people skills. Building and maintaining good relationships with other teams, brokers and clients ensures ongoing success.
Candidates should have or expect to achieve a minimum of GPA 4.00 or 2nd class upper / GPA 3.40 or Cum Laude.
